How to Put on a Front Zip Wetsuit

Not to get confused with a chest zip wetsuit, a front zip wetsuit has a – you got it – a full front zipper. Full front zipper wetsuits are great for easy entry as well as exit and we’re telling/showing you step-by-step how to put on a front zip wetsuit!

The first order of business on how to put on a front zip wetsuit is to get the wetsuit legs over your feet and ankles. Having trouble doing so? We recommend using a plastic bag, a pair of WETSOX socks or even a wetsuit-based lubricant. These will help you get the wetsuit over your feet faster.

You should also be aware that the wetsuit will fit like a second skin so be prepared for adjusting and some pulling when putting on a front zip suit, or any wetsuit for that matter.

Once the wetsuit is over your feet and ankles, start moving it up your legs one leg at a time and adjust any excess material as needed so there’s no bagginess in the legs. Then pull the wetsuit up towards your hips and waist and adjust so that there’s no drag or bagginess in the legs. After that, put one arm in one wetsuit sleeve and then of course the other arm in the other sleeve.

Now, since the zipper is in the front, you don’t have to stress with a chest zip or even a back zip. Instead, simply just zip your front zipper and you’re good to go!

Just remember to go easy on the wetsuit as you’re pulling on the neoprene. Other than that, it’s time to get in the water!

And to help make things easier, here’s a handy video showing the steps on how to put on a front zip wetsuit.
