Why Wear a Rashguard?

You’ve learned in a previous post how to buy a rashguard and now you might be wondering… but WHY wear a rashguard? Well, there are actually a few reasons why you’d want to wear one.

UV & Rash Protection.

We know, this one is kind of a given, but we want to make it known. Rashguards have a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating of 50+ meaning you get serious protection from harmful UV rays. Rashguards also act as a protective layer from board rash and abrasion. Not sure what board rash is? Have you or your child used a boogie board or a surfboard only to come out of the water with scrapes and redness on the torso? Yep, that’s board rash. It’s painful, uncomfortable, and downright ugly. By wearing a rashguard, you are protected from said issues. So your choice – do you want to be scraped up or not scraped up? Or, would you be interested in full body rashguard protection? We’ve got a bodysuit rashguard from Akona!

Getting In and Out of a Wetsuit.

If you choose a rashguard with a regular/clingy fit that means it’s like a performance and tight fit. So why wear a rashguard under a wetsuit? People like to wear rashguards (especially a regular fit one) under a suit because it can make the process of getting into and out easier. And if you want a loose fit rashguard, they are great for a more relaxed and comfortable fit. This type of fit is more preferred for laid back activities like relaxing on the beach or stand up paddle boarding.

Cover-up.

Some people might just like having a top that can be worn just like a cover-up but with the UV ray protection. And as mentioned in reason #2, we offer a variety of rashguards that have a regular/performance fit or a loose/clingy fit. We’ve also got long sleeve rashguards, short sleeve rashguards, and even sleeveless rashguards.

Quick Drying.

Did we mention that rashguards are not only anti-microbial but also fast drying? That’s right, you don’t have to worry about stinking or about wearing a soaking wet top all day. Quick drying rashguards are great for boating and even an after surf cool down.

There you have it – a few reasons to explain the importance of wearing a rashguard. Whether you want to protect yourself or your little one or you just want awesome rashguard you can wear from beach to boardwalk, we’ve got you covered!
