Why I Wear Roxy Wetsuits

Hi wetsuit world out there. My name is Devon. I’m an ambassador for Wetsuit Wearhouse as well as Roxy Wetsuits, Dakine and Pom Pom Surf Wax. I live and surf and write and wander around San Diego, California with my husband, Scott, and our one year old daughter, Avalon.
My dad taught me to surf when I was nine. He signed me up for a surf camp a few years later where my cousin and I just pretended to drown so the cute boy instructors would save us. My dad and I still surf together every Friday, but I do the opposite of allowing the boys to think I need their help now.
I always felt that there wasn’t enough surf content for women, even growing up in the heart of the industry in Orange County, California, surrounded by waves, so in 2009 I decided to transfer my surf journal from paper to the web and I’ve been writing a blog called The Tale of a Mermaid ever since. I was originally inspired by Harriet the Spy and her quote:
“I want to learn everything I can, and I write down everything I see. I want to remember everything.”
I’m also inspired by the ocean and the way its salty air and sticky sand sneaks into my house every day. Nothing has taught me more about life than salt water, I think.
I’ve been riding for Roxy Wetsuits for about as long as I’ve been writing my blog, but I’ve been a fan of the brand since the start. Roxy is a revolutionary company not just in the surfing world, but in the fashion world too as they were the first brand to make clothes specifically for water women. They took the gutsy move in 1990 to start a line that fit girls who wanted to do more than sit on the sand. I feel their designs and mission to not only expose girls everywhere to the surf lifestyle, but to support and encourage them to make adventure and health a priority really speaks to me.
I love Roxy wetsuits because their design, style and material reflects and embraces the free spirit of an adventurer and ocean addict like myself. Their material and technology is always evolving which makes the Roxy suits consistently top of the market. It’s awesome that Wetsuit Wearhouse has such an extensive collection of Roxy suits and I’m really stoked that well made water products can now reach people all of the world who love to play in the water as much as I do.
